Education Outside the Classroom
Unlimited runs many different outdoor education programmes.
To begin the year off, we always head on camp with our communities. These range in location and focus, but camps have been held on the West Coast, exploring the coal mining heritage of the area. In 2008 comunities visited Charteris Bay on the Canterbury Peninsula, Hamner Springs, and numerous other destinations around Canterbury.
Peter Brailsford runs out Outdoor Education programme and this exciting, multi-faceted programme caters for all students who are interested in challenging themselves in some way.
The three courses, at Foundation, Level 1/2 and Level 2/3 include orienteering and navigation skills, river crossing, mountain biking, rock-climbing, sailing, kayaking, snow skills, skiing and snow-boarding, tramping and mountaineering.
All our outdoor experiences are managed to a Ministry of Education monitored standard, with risk management approved by our Board of Trustees.
