Bi-Variate data NCEA 3
Ino
The course is about analysing the relationship between two sets of data using regression techniques, a very valuable tool in all the sciences and in statistics itself. It is essential to have passed at least NCEA level 1 algebra and graphs and passed level 1 Statistics to make progress in this course. Level 2 is preferable. You must have a scientific calculator, writing equipment and a squared paper exercise book eg 1E5. The graphing calculator is almost essential if you want to do this level of maths all year. Excel (Microsoft) or the latest version of Numbers (Mac) on your computer will give you a huge advantage in this topic and in the next two topics. You must expect to do at least an hour extra work outside class and for this we recommend buying the workbook which costs about $25.

Re-draft: creative writing
Braden
Re-draft - Creative Writing
Best-selling Japanese author Haruki Murakami remembers the instance he decided to write. Relaxing at a baseball game from his busy workload as a nightclub owner, the dink of the bat on ball prompted in him a strong and original thought: ‘Perhaps I should write a novel?’
While most people who have never before pondered such a feat would surely dismiss it as whimsical, and fanciful, a notion for dreamers and ne’er do wells, for Murakami it became a necessity.
Working in spurts at the kitchen table after coming home late from his club, he fought exhaustion and failure to complete it. The novel won him a literary prize.
In this course you will make the decision to write. You will decide what genre you will write in. What the main theme or message your writing will communicate. You will decide whether to use a simple plotline or try more complicated plot devices. Upon completing your first draft you will then make a raft of editorial and production decisions on your style, characterizations, and sentences, in short the overall effectiveness of your work.
My role and the role of mentors from the community is to help your be the best writer you can be. Welcome to re-draft."
